Business Book Club Online: Sharing ideas and encouraging action

Join the Business Book Club

Welcome to the new Business Book Club. Keep reading for more information on how it works.

Why a Business Book Club?

I love business books. And I love the idea of being in a book club. It seemed logical to combine the two. But there was another reason. I have a fantastic collection of business books, but I find I don’t spend enough time reading them. And I also don’t have a process for turning the gold on those pages into actions.

I decided to create the Business Book Club so we could share the journey, get different viewpoints and hold each other accountable.

How does the Business Book Club work?

Each month we vote and choose a book for the following month. This allows enough time for people to buy the book and start reading if they want.

Then we follow a schedule of different activities to explore the book together. There will be:

  • Live online catch ups, which will also be available as replays
  • Mini challenges
  • Progress check-ins
  • Ongoing discussion threads on specific topics
  • Achievement roll calls
  • And more!

When will the Business Book Club meet?

This will vary, but at the beginning of each month I’ll share a list of formal catch up options for the members. As we all live in different parts of the world, the timing will rotate so everyone has a chance to participate. As all the activities will be linked back to the units tab in the Facebook Group, it won't be necessary to attend everything. You'll be able to catch up anytime!

Where will the Business Book Club meet?

The Business Book Club will meet in the private Digital Decluttered Facebook Group. If you haven’t joined yet, do so now! There will be a dedicated unit tab where everything will be collated so if you miss something you can go back and review it. We may look at other options as well, like Google Hangouts, but again, I’ll record these and add them to the unit tab in the Facebook Group.

What will the business book club read?

September’s book is Making Ideas Happen by Scott Belsky

October’s book is The $100 Startup by Chris Guillebeau

You'll also have the chance to make your own suggestions for the Business Book Club and vote for each month's selection.

Who will be in the business book club?

All members of the Digital Decluttered private Facebook Group are welcome to participate!

Next steps

Join the Digital Decluttered private Facebook Group. Our first book is Making Ideas Happen. If you don’t have a copy you can grab one from Amazon  or from your favorite bookseller.

Even if you don’t buy the book, I think you’ll find there are lots of insights to be gained by following along!

Look forward to seeing you in the club!
